Château de Rieux stands in Rieux (Morbihan), in the Bretagne region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Perched on a rocky spur above the Vilaine river, east of the village of Rieux, stand the ruins of a fortified castle whose history traces back to the Rieux family and a first stronghold built in the 9th century. Visitors come mainly to see the surviving gatehouse, the only structure still standing, and the English-style garden laid out in the 19th century around the remains. An interpretation trail helps make sense of the original layout, which is now hard to read given the successive waves of destruction the site has suffered.
