To make a day of it

Château d'Oudon stands in Oudon (Loire-Atlantique), in the Pays de la Loire region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 14th century, 15th century). Adult admission costs 6.9 EUR. Its opening hours and prices were verified at the source on August 9, 2026.

In Oudon, a polygonal keep over thirty metres high overlooks the confluence of the Loire and the Hâvre, the main surviving part of a stronghold begun in 1392 by the lord of Malestroit. The tower, built both as a residence and a defensive post, still displays its decorated machicolations and a section of its 15th-century enclosure, along with a moat and access bridge. The visit is short, allowing visitors to climb the rebuilt staircase to the upper floors and look out over the Loire valley from the top of the building.
