The château de la Droitière stands on the cliffs of Mauves-sur-Loire, 76 metres above the river, near Nantes. Built on the foundations of a 17th-century manor house, it was remodelled in the Louis XVI style at the end of the 18th century, then altered under the Fleury family in the 1870s. The park, laid out in the English style with the help of Jules Verne, brother-in-law of Victor Fleury, still bears traces of the writer's stay, including a cedar tree and a gazebo named after him. The estate also preserves the Grotte des Faux-Monnayeurs, a reminder of an unusual 16th-century episode.
