La Châtière était un fief relevant des baronnies de la Haye et du Grand-Pressigny. De l'ancien château subsistent un long bâtiment du 15e siècle servant, dans sa partie ouest, d'habitation et dans sa partie Est, de greniers et remises ; une aile en retour d'équerre vers le sud, dont le mur date probablement en partie du 13e siècle, reconstruit au 16e ; la porte d'entrée principale ; une chapelle du 12e siècle ; une tour cylindrique de défense, percée de meurtrières et couverte d'une toiture conique avec lucarnes à gâbles accostées d'animaux sculptés.
