Standing at the heart of Meung-sur-Loire, this castle combines the remains of a 12th-century fortress with a classical residence reshaped by the bishops of Orléans in the 18th century. Visitors move through eight centuries of history, from the medieval prison that once held the poet François Villon to the lavishly decorated rooms commissioned under Bishop Jarente de La Bruyère. A seven-hectare English-style park surrounds the building and its outbuildings, including a neoclassical chapel, a music pavilion and an ice house.
