Construit de 1883 à 1885, non modernisé avant 1914, le fort est demeuré dans son état original de batterie d'artillerie pour six pièces de siège et quatre en caponnière. Sont conservés les fours à pain, le puits et sa pompe, le pont-levis, ce qui est rare.
