To make a day of it

Château de Fontenoy-le-château stands in Fontenoy-le-Château (Vosges), in the Grand Est region of France. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Southern Vosges territory holds in Fontenoy-le-Château one of its earliest fortified sites, a keep raised by the bishops of Toul at the close of the 10th century on a rocky spur overlooking where two watercourses converge, the Châtelain stream meeting the Côney river below. Later expansions and the damage inflicted during the Thirty Years' War reduced the structure to a partial ruin, though the square tower has endured. A local association has worked since the 2000s to restore the stonework and limit further decay.
