To make a day of it

Wildenburg stands in Zülpich (Kreis Euskirchen), in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

The Wildenburg stands in Bürvenich, a district of Zülpich, along the former Roman road linking Cologne and Reims, which points to a possible late Roman origin. Once the administrative seat of the Dukes of Jülich, it long served to protect a nearby Cistercian convent before becoming, in 1555, the court seat for Bürvenich and ten surrounding villages. Bought in 1764 by the last bailiff, Carl Caspar Rudolph Trimborn, it then took on much of its present appearance, arranged around a courtyard framed by four wings. A notable feature is the timber-framed stable of 1655, which still retains its original, deeply overhanging wooden gallery.
