To make a day of it

Burg Juntersdorf stands in Zülpich (Kreis Euskirchen), in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

Burg Juntersdorf stands at the edge of the village of Juntersdorf, a district of Zülpich in the Euskirchen district. Once a moated stronghold, it has long since lost its water defences, which were filled in, but it still shows its old two-part layout: a large working courtyard lined with farm buildings and, set back, the manor house. Largely rebuilt after two fires in the nineteenth century, it has belonged to the Rolff family ever since.

What to know

  • The site is a private property occupied by the Rolff family, which limits access to the outer surroundings.
  • The former moat has long been filled in, so no water feature remains visible around the buildings.
  • The complex consists of a three-wing farm courtyard adjoining a manor house.
  • Most of the present structure dates from a rebuilding after fires in 1848 and 1883, so the appearance is not original.
  • No opening hours, fees or visiting arrangements are available, so it is best to check locally before travelling there.
