To make a day of it

Weißes Schloss (Heroldsberg) stands in Heroldsberg (Landkreis Erlangen-Höchstadt), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Adult admission costs 4.5 EUR. Its opening hours and prices were verified at the source on October 23, 2026.

The Weißes Schloss stands in Heroldsberg, one of four castles found in this Middle Franconian market town. Built by the Geuder family, Nuremberg patricians, the structure seen today dates largely from the rebuilding begun in 1565, after the original house was destroyed in the Second Margrave War. It served as the town hall until 2005 and now houses a museum devoted to local history and to the artist Fritz Griebel, along with exhibition and event spaces.

What to know

  • The castle now functions as a museum and event venue, following a renovation completed in 2017.
  • An octagonal, four-storey stair tower added around 1762 marks the exterior of the building.
  • The ceremonial hall upstairs is also used for civil wedding ceremonies.
  • The site is run on a voluntary basis by the Kulturfreunde Heroldsberg e. V. association.
  • As no opening hours or prices are given here, it is best to check directly before planning a visit.
