The Wasserburg Farnroda is a 13th century fortified site built on marshy meadowland in the Erbstrom valley, near Wutha-Farnroda. Only a roughly twenty-metre tower and a pond survive from what was once a compact stronghold of barely a hundred square metres. It was founded by the lords of Farnroda, ministerials of the Thuringian landgraves, and changed hands several times before fading from record around 1600.
