Burgstelle Rudolfstein stands in Eisenach (Wartburgkreis), in Thuringia, Germany. No visits are on record for this building.
The Burgstelle Rudolfstein marks the site of a small fortification that no longer stands, set on a rocky spur south of Eisenach in Thuringia. It takes its name from Rudolf III Schenk von Vargula, a knight and cupbearer at the court of the Landgraves of Thuringia, who had it built during the Thuringian-Hessian War of Succession, between 1260 and 1262, to watch over the approaches to the nearby Wartburg. Nothing remains standing today: only earthworks, ditches and embankments still trace the outline of this thirteenth-century military post. The site is best appreciated as an archaeological curiosity set in woodland, close to the Wartburg itself.
