To make a day of it
Veltheimsburg stands in Hohe Börde (Landkreis Börde), in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Veltheimsburg stands in the village of Alvensleben, part of the municipality of Hohe Börde, on a site that once carried up to three separate medieval strongholds, including a bishop's castle and a margravial castle. What remains today is a round keep and fragments of the Romanesque hall belonging to the margravial castle, set within a landscaped park created in the 19th century by the von Veltheim family, whose name the estate came to bear. The grounds now combine medieval ruins with later manor buildings and a park used for local events.
