To make a day of it
Ulmener Burgen stands in Ulmen (Landkreis Cochem-Zell), in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.
The Ulmener Burgen are the ruins of a fortified complex that once comprised an upper castle and a lower castle, overlooking the Ulmener Maar in the Eifel region. The upper castle, founded around the year 1000, was the seat of the knight Heinrich von Ulmen, who took part in the Fourth Crusade, before French troops under Louis XIV badly damaged it in the late 17th century. Today only the ring wall, remains of the administrative building, a wall of the palas, a cistern and a few foundations survive, while the lower castle has almost entirely vanished.
