To make a day of it
Turmhügelburg Attendorn stands in Attendorn (Kreis Olpe), in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Recorded dating: 12th century. No visits are on record for this building.
The Turmhügelburg Attendorn is a small, long-vanished motte whose remains lie near Attendorn-Bürberg in North Rhine-Westphalia. Believed to date from the 13th century, it survives only as an earthen mound roughly two metres high and twenty metres across, once shielded by a dam and ponded water that made the site hard to approach. Excavations there have turned up pottery fragments, pieces of stove tiles and an iron key, the modest traces of its former occupants. Visiting means a walk through open countryside rather than encountering standing walls or towers.
