To make a day of it

Burg Borghausen stands in Attendorn (Kreis Olpe), in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. No visits are on record for this building.

Burg Borghausen is a ruined spur castle set on a rocky outcrop of the Breiter Hagen, between the Lenne and Repe valleys, within the town of Attendorn. What remains today belonged to a medieval stronghold likely built in the 12th century, whose history was long intertwined with that of the Bamenohl estate. The castle was destroyed in 1632 by Hessian-Swedish troops during the Thirty Years' War and was never rebuilt. The site sits within a designated nature reserve, giving a visit both a historical and a natural dimension.
