To make a day of it

Haus Bamenohl stands in Amt Waldenburg (Kreis Olpe), in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Recorded dating: 14th century. Its opening hours and prices were verified at the source on October 23, 2026.

Haus Bamenohl stands in the Lenne valley in the Sauerland region, on a site first recorded in 1324 under the name Bawenole inferiore. The thick walls and vaulted cellars of the present building date from the 14th or 15th century, but the appearance visitors encounter today, with its tower and landscaped grounds, results from a mid 19th century rebuilding carried out by the von Bodelschwingh-Plettenberg family. Once split between a lower house and an upper house, the estate passed through many hands before settling with this family, whose coat of arms still marks the tower gateway.
