Schloss Söldenau stands in the Söldenau district of Ortenburg, built on the remains of a medieval moated castle. First documented in 1323 under the knights of Tuschl, the present building forms a four-winged Renaissance structure around an older medieval core, with forty-five rooms spread over roughly 2000 square metres. Now privately owned, the castle remains associated with a brewery established in its outbuildings in the late 16th century, whose name still appears on local beer labels. The former moats that once surrounded it have been filled in and partly serve as a car park today.
