To make a day of it
Alte Residenz Passau stands in Passau (Passau), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Alte Residenz Passau stands in the old town facing the cathedral, on the site of the former prince-bishops' palace first documented in 1188. The present building, largely constructed between the 15th and 17th centuries, retains a Romanesque door surround from 1180, its oldest surviving element. Its upper-floor rooms feature stucco ceilings by the Carlone workshop from 1685 and by Giovanni Battista d'Allio from 1720. The building now houses the Passau regional court, with the former court chapel, secularised in 1803, serving as its hearing room.
