To make a day of it

Schloss Neugattersleben stands in Nienburg (Salzlandkreis), in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Schloss Neugattersleben stands in Nienburg on the banks of the Bode river, on the site of a medieval stronghold first recorded in the 13th century. From 1573 to 1945 it belonged to the von Alvensleben family, who gradually turned it into a stately residence set within a landscaped park. The buildings seen today grew out of successive building campaigns, from the late 16th century through to romantic remodelling in the late 19th century. Traces of older structures remain, including a Gothic vault and a stuccoed ceiling with religious imagery, recalling the two former chapels that once stood here.
