Schloss Harteneck sits on a promontory above the Neckar, facing Neckarweihingen, in Ludwigsburg. What appears today as a remodeled country house conceals the remains of a 13th-century Kammburg, with fragments of the surrounding wall and the old knights' hall still preserved within later construction. The site was the ancestral seat of the imperial knights Herter von Hertneck, before passing through many owners and being reshaped in baroque style in the early 18th century.
