Schloss Elnhausen stands in a district of Marburg, on a former manorial estate set against the slopes of the Stöckelsberg. Built in the early 18th century on the site of a medieval moated castle destroyed during the Thirty Years' War, it follows the nearly square layout of the earlier stronghold while adopting a composition inspired by French models. The baroque main house occupies the western side of the complex, flanked by farm buildings on the other three sides. A remaining moat south of the building is the only trace left of the former fortification.
