To make a day of it

Schloss Brackenheim stands in Brackenheim (Landkreis Heilbronn), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Schloss Brackenheim stands in the southwestern corner of Brackenheim's fortified old town, on the site of a medieval stronghold once held by the lords of Magenheim. Passed to the House of Württemberg in the 14th century, it was repeatedly designated as a residence for ducal widows, though none of them actually settled there. Its present form owes much to building work carried out under Duke Christoph in the 16th century, followed by reconstruction after a serious fire in the late 17th century. The newer wing, raised in height, became known as the Neues Schloss, standing opposite the Altes Schloss on the other side of the courtyard.
