Schloss Bietschied is a former manor house in Heusweiler, in the Saarland, built in 1810 by Heinrich Wahlster, a wealthy timber merchant and mayor of Heusweiler, on the site of an older farmstead. The classicist building is recognisable by its eleven bays and rendered rubble-stone facade beneath a slated gable roof. Inside, the stucco decoration by Joseph Beunat survives, including fluted pilasters with Corinthian capitals and a cornice adorned with rosettes and acanthus scrollwork, along with a wooden staircase with an ornate balustrade. Over the decades the building served many purposes, from staff housing to a domestic science school, before becoming a rehabilitation clinic that closed in 2014.
