To make a day of it
Teufelsburg stands in Überherrn (Landkreis Saarlouis), in Saarland, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Recorded dating: 14th century. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Teufelsburg is a castle ruin perched on a rocky spur north of Felsberg, a district of Überherrn in Saarland. Built in the 14th century under the name Neu-Felsberg by Duke John I of Lorraine, it overlooks the Saar valley from a height of around 320 metres. Abandoned and stripped of its stones in the 17th century, it was excavated and partly rebuilt from 1968 onwards, with a further restoration carried out between 2009 and 2010. A small museum now displays finds from the excavations along with minerals and fossils from Felsberg.
