Burg Kerpen (Saarland) stands in Illingen (Landkreis Neunkirchen), in Saarland, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Burg Kerpen stands in the centre of Illingen, in the valley of the river Ill, and only parts of its medieval structure remain today. First documented in 1359 as a fief held by Dietrich V von Kerpen, the castle suffered repeated destruction, notably during the Thirty Years' War and again when French troops set it ablaze in 1677, followed by a slow rebuilding. Visitors can see the round tower restored in the twentieth century, which contains a small late Gothic chapel and a festival hall, along with a gatehouse built in 1605 and a pentagonal corner tower, while the rest of the surrounding wall was dismantled during the nineteenth century.
