To make a day of it

Schloss Backnang stands in Backnang (Rems-Murr-Kreis), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Recorded dating: 17th century. No visits are on record for this building.

Schloss Backnang stands on the site of a former Burg and an Augustinian canons' monastery, on the hill overlooking the town. Designed by court architect Heinrich Schickhardt for Duke Friedrich I of Württemberg as a dowager residence, it was never completed as originally planned. Wars, a fire and later alterations in the 19th century shaped the building into its present form, which now houses the town's district court. A visit is therefore limited to viewing the exterior and learning about its eventful history.
