To make a day of it

Ruine Wielandstein stands in Lenningen (Landkreis Esslingen), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

The Ruine Wielandstein is a group of several medieval fortifications built along a single rocky ridge above the Tobeltal valley, near Oberlenningen. The complex includes the remains of the Hinterer Wielandstein, Zwischen-Wielandstein, Mittlerer Wielandstein, Alt-Wielandstein and Vorderer Wielandstein, constructed in successive phases from the mid twelfth to the mid thirteenth century. Visible remains include sections of walls, among them a thick shield wall at the Vorderer Wielandstein, and rock-cut ditches that once separated the individual fortified sections. A major rockfall in 2015 led to the closure of access to the site, along with nearby hiking trails and climbing routes.
