The Ruine Walkenstein is what remains of a medieval residential tower perched on a rocky spur above the hamlet of Walke, near Oberwolfach. Likely built in the 14th century by the Counts of Fürstenberg to guard the valley and control mining rights, it belonged around 1364 to a certain Aigelwart von Valkenstein. Only the square granite foundation walls of the former tower survive, bordered on the uphill side by a defensive ditch. The site was archaeologically secured and stabilised between 1988 and 1990.
