To make a day of it

Burg Waldstein stands in Fischerbach (Ortenaukreis), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Recorded dating: 14th century. No visits are on record for this building.

Waldstein Castle is a former hilltop fortress, now vanished, whose remains lie on a rocky spur at an elevation of 510 metres, near the Franzosenhof in the Waldstein valley close to Fischerbach. Built by the lords of Waldstein and first recorded in 1353, it fell into ruin after 1500. The site stood on a rock plateau roughly 40 by 10 metres, defended on the west by a double ditch and rampart, and on the south by a neck ditch and a shield-wall-like rock outcrop. Only scant wall fragments survive today.
