To make a day of it

Oberhof Ballenstedt stands in Ballenstedt (Landkreis Harz), in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

The Oberhof Ballenstedt stands beside the town hall in the southern old town of Ballenstedt. Built in the 16th century as a fortified town residence for the von Stammer family, it still preserves the groin vaults of its ground floor and the layout of a three-winged Late Gothic building from that period. Later owned by the von Krosigk family and then by the ducal house of Anhalt-Bernburg, the estate now belongs to the von Alvensleben family, who have restored it and opened it for cultural events. The surrounding park, laid out in the 19th century, is part of what visitors can see today.
