The Obere Burg stands in Rheinbreitbach, in Rhineland-Palatinate, and now houses the municipal administration along with a cultural centre. Its fourteenth-century core, a three-storey main building with a tracery oriel window, passed through several owning families before being remodelled in historicist style in the early twentieth century by the writer Rudolf Herzog. Notable features include the north wing with its stepped gables, a former wine press building later used as a dining hall, and the tower that rises above the complex. The surrounding park, on the east and south sides, hosts an annual festival each August.
