Burg Dattenberg stands on a rise at the edge of the village of Dattenberg, in Rhineland-Palatinate. Built around 1220 by the lords of Dattenberg as their family seat, it passed through many hands and underwent several transformations before being turned, in the late 19th century, into a mansion-like villa. What remains today is the roughly eleven-metre stump of the central keep, together with a moat cut into the slate rock.
