Neu Baumburg stands in Neu-Bamberg (Landkreis Bad Kreuznach), in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Recorded dating: 13th century. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Burg Neu Baumburg stands in ruins above the village of Neu-Bamberg, on a rocky spur overlooking the valley. Built shortly before 1253 by the Raugrafen family, it later passed partly into the hands of the Archbishopric of Mainz and the Counts of Sponheim before being destroyed on the orders of Elector Charles I Louis of the Palatinate in the 17th century. The site includes a lower bailey to the west and a core castle to the northwest, and the nearby Catholic church of St Dionysius incorporates remains of the medieval castle chapel. Restoration work carried out after 1970 rebuilt sections of the walls.
