To make a day of it

Hof Iben stands in Fürfeld (Landkreis Bad Kreuznach), in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

Hof Iben is a former moated castle and Templar commandery near Fürfeld, in Rhineland-Palatinate. What survives of the medieval complex is chiefly the Gothic choir of the chapel, built around 1240 and counted among the earliest examples of Gothic architecture in Germany. Its Romanesque nave was torn down in the 19th century, but the ribbed-vaulted choir, with its octagonal roof turret and stone spire, still stands. The rest of the former commandery has long since become a farm, whose present buildings only loosely trace the outline of the original fortified site.
