To make a day of it
Burg Ebernburg stands in Bad Kreuznach (Landkreis Bad Kreuznach), in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Recorded dating: 14th century. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Ebernburg Castle stands on a rocky spur above the Nahe valley in Rhineland-Palatinate. Built in the 14th century, it was the seat of the Sickingen family and remains linked to Franz von Sickingen and his friend, the humanist Ulrich von Hutten, who sheltered several reformers close to Luther there. It was here that Johannes Oecolampadius held what is regarded as the first Protestant service in 1522. The castle seen today results from a 19th-century rebuilding, later completed after the Second World War.
