The Burg Rheingrafenstein stands as a ruin atop a porphyry outcrop above the Bad Münster am Stein district, overlooking the Nahe valley. French troops under Louis XIV destroyed it in 1689, and it has remained a ruin ever since. It still serves as the visual landmark of the area, visible throughout the valley.
