Schloss Westerhaus stands on the Westerberg hill near Ingelheim am Rhein, at the centre of the largest wine estate in Rheinhessen. First recorded in 1408 and home to the counts of Bolanden and Ingelheim for over six hundred years, the building seen today owes its neo-baroque, mansard-roofed appearance to a rebuilding carried out by the Opel family between 1922 and 1927. Visitors find a working winery, a well-known stud farm, and a terraced park with a water basin.
