To make a day of it
Burg Landskron stands in Oppenheim (Landkreis Mainz-Bingen), in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Burg Landskron rises above the town of Oppenheim, in the Landkreis Mainz-Bingen, in Rhineland-Palatinate. Built in the early 13th century as an imperial stronghold, it was destroyed and rebuilt several times before Elector Friedrich V had it converted into a more refined residence in 1615. Gutted by fire during the Thirty Years' War and later stripped of its keep by French troops in 1689, it survives today only as a ruin, with substantial remains of the 16th century hall and a well nearly forty metres deep. The site now serves as an open-air venue for theatre performances and summer concerts, and marks the starting point of a vineyard trail.
