Schloss Braunshardt stands in the Braunshardt district of Weiterstadt, in Hesse. Built in 1760 for Prince Georg Wilhelm von Hessen-Darmstadt after a French model, this small Rococo residence was once known for having each room painted a different colour, a feature that struck Queen Victoria during her 1885 visit. Over the following centuries it passed through private owners, a religious charity and institutional use, with alterations changing part of the original structure. Marble fireplaces and old stucco work remain inside.
