To make a day of it

Schloss Schönborn stands in Geisenheim (Rheingau-Taunus-Kreis), in Hesse, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Schloss Schönborn stands in Geisenheim, in the heart of the Rheingau, as a former noble manor built in the mid 16th century by the von Stockheim family. Its rectangular three storey main building, topped with a steep slate roof and broken hipped gables, reflects the transitional style between late Gothic and Renaissance found along the Rhine and Main. Notable features include the polygonal stair tower with its pointed spire on the southeastern facade and an added oriel on the northeastern gable side. The property is surrounded by a walled vineyard, known as a clos, which ties the building closely to the Rheingau's winegrowing landscape.
