To make a day of it

Kurfürstliche Burg stands in Boppard (Rhein-Hunsrück-Kreis), in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

The Kurfürstliche Burg stands on ground occupied since Roman times, right by the Rhine in the old town of Boppard. Built around a 13th century keep, it was turned into a toll fortress by the prince electors and archbishops of Trier, before taking its present four winged shape during the 17th century. Traces of several distinct building phases can still be read here, from the fortified tower to the wings added under electors Karl Kaspar von der Leyen and Johann Hugo von Orsbeck. Close by stand the remains of a tower from the Roman fort of Bodobrica.
