Burg Osterspai stands on the bank of the Rhine in the village that bears its name, in Rhineland-Palatinate. Since 2002 the site has formed part of the UNESCO World Heritage area covering the Upper Middle Rhine Valley. In the early 1900s the keep was converted into a residence by architect Eduard Lyonel Wehner, who added a half-timbered wing in the local Rhenish style.
