Hohenbeilstein stands in Beilstein (Landkreis Heilbronn), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Burg Hohenbeilstein stands on a hilltop above the town of Beilstein, at the southern edge of the Heilbronn district. Its oldest visible parts date back to the 13th century, though the site's origins may be older still. Visitors can climb the five-sided, 28-metre keep known as the Langhans for a view over the surroundings, and see the thick shield wall and outer buildings that now house a falconry and an inn.

What to know

  • Climbing the keep offers an open view over the town of Beilstein and the surrounding countryside.
  • The original great hall no longer exists; most of the buildings seen in the outer courtyard result from Albert Benz's early 20th-century reconstruction.
  • A section of the old walls running down toward the town survives in part in its original state.
  • The site today houses an inn and a falconry, set up in the former outbuildings.
  • The castle is listed as a Kulturdenkmal in Germany.
