The Burgruine Helfenberg stands on a wooded ridge above the village of Helfenberg, part of Ilsfeld, surrounded by vineyards in the Landkreis Heilbronn. Built around 1250 under the Staufer dynasty, the stronghold today survives mainly as a residential tower attached to the remains of its shield wall, its portal bearing the coat of arms of the von Gaisberg family. Wrecked during the Thirty Years' War and later stripped of stone for buildings in the village below, the ruin remains owned by the von Gaisberg family and is freely accessible to visitors.
