Große Burg stands in Euskirchen (Kreis Euskirchen), in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.
The Große Burg stands in Kleinbüllesheim, a district of Euskirchen, surrounded by a moat that still traces the outline of the older fortified site. Despite its name, meaning great castle, the building seen today is an 18th century manor house, raised after the medieval stronghold on the spot was torn down. Visitors passing by can note the late gothic gatehouse, the outbuildings around the courtyard, and the main house with its rounded corners and slate mansard roof. The estate has remained private, passed by marriage in the 19th century to the counts of Wolff-Metternich zu Liblar, who still own it.
What to know
- The building is privately owned, which limits any interior visit.
- It is reached via Luxemburger Straße in the Kleinbüllesheim district of Euskirchen.
- The structure visible today dates from the 18th century, not the Middle Ages despite the name.
- No opening hours, fees or access conditions are published for this site.
