Burg Großbüllesheim is what remains of a former moated stronghold that once stood between the Erftmühlenbach stream and the Untere Ahr, in the Großbüllesheim district of Euskirchen. Most of the medieval structure is gone: only the residential building of the outer bailey, leaning against a gate tower, still stands, along with a few remnants from the 17th century belonging to the former main castle. The moat that once surrounded the site has since been filled in. Visitors come here less for a striking silhouette than for the layered history the place still carries.
