To make a day of it

Burgstall Ottersdorf stands in Altmannstein (Landkreis Eichstätt), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

The Burgstall Ottersdorf marks the site of a small vanished medieval fortification, set on a steep rocky spur above the Schindergrund valley, near the hamlet of Ottersdorf west of Hexenagger. The lords of Ottersdorf are documented as owners of the site between 1108 and 1140. Hard to capture due to its position, the stronghold served as a refuge for local villagers and their livestock in times of threat. Today only earthworks and ditch remains survive, the last traces of an enclosure once secured by a double palisaded rampart and a timber building linked to the slope by a bridge.
