To make a day of it

Burg Lengenfeld stands in Hausen im Tal (Landkreis Sigmaringen), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. No visits are on record for this building.

The Burg Lengenfeld is a ruined spur castle standing on a steep rocky outcrop at 770 metres above sea level, roughly 175 metres above the Danube valley and directly opposite the Schloss Werenwag. Built in the 12th century, it survives today only as scant wall remains of a very small core castle, about 16 by 16 metres, thought to have included a keep with thick walls and a gate. On the northwest side, larger and more carefully cut stones are visible, including a notably rounded corner stone. Little else is known of its history beyond a presumed connection to the nearby village of Lengenfeld on the plateau above.

What to know

  • The ruin sits on an isolated rocky spur, so reaching it involves walking over natural, sloping terrain.
  • Only scattered wall remains survive, with no known visitor infrastructure or signage.
  • The site faces the Schloss Werenwag across the Danube valley.
  • No opening hours, admission fees, or accessibility information are documented for this location.
