Landeck Castle stands in ruins southwest of Landau, on a hill near Klingenmünster. Built around 1200 and first recorded in 1237 during the division of the Leiningen family's estates, it was destroyed by French troops toward the end of the 17th century and never rebuilt. Visitors today can climb the 25 metre keep, the tallest fully preserved one in the Palatinate, via an internal wooden spiral staircase, and see a small display of archaeological finds from the grounds.
